Want to get the most out of your American Advertising Awards entries? Check out these tips to help you get started. If you have questions at any point, feel free to reach out to our organization and we will be happy to help.
Now, on to the good part.
First Things First
Each Element of Advertising entry must include a sample showing how the element was actually used in market. Entries should accurately reflect the work as it ran.
All Entries Must
- Meet all eligibility and deadline requirements
- Be entered in the correct category and clearly identified
- Conform to all submission requirements outlined in the rules
- Comply with all copyright laws
How to Enter
- Review the Rules and Categories document in the online entry portal
- Decide what you are entering and which categories apply
- Register and submit entries through the AAF online entry system
- Create an account using your email address and complete the entry form for each submission
- Upload all required files as outlined in the Rules and Categories document
After completing your entries, you will be required to sign an Invoice Manifest Form digitally. This confirms that all information provided is accurate and compliant.

By submitting your entries and signing the manifest, you:
- Verify that all information is accurate
- Confirm proper rights were obtained for all included elements
- Agree to provide documentation if requested
- Grant permission for use in internet, broadcast, and print promotion
- Verify the work was created within the local competition area
What Not To Do
- Do not enter work outside the eligibility timeline
- Do not wait until deadline day to start the process
- Do not alter or embellish work beyond how it actually ran
- Do not include identifying company names or slates within uploaded creative
Online Entry Tips
- Start early
- Entries can be edited up until the deadline
- Do not finalize until everything is complete and correct
- Once finalized, entries cannot be edited
- Double check spelling and credits
- Submitted information is used for winner materials and press coverage
- Save your progress often
General Tips
- You cannot win if you do not enter
- In ROI categories, clearly show investment and results
- Enter work in the most appropriate category
- Multiple category entries are acceptable when relevant, but quality matters more than quantity
- Consider submitting a brief explanation video for complex or experiential entries
- Review newer categories to enter strategically
- Credit all contributors accurately
- All work must be real and must have run
