Meet the artist behind the ADDY-CON 2019 artwork!

Rhiannon Owens is an artist that currently lives in the Gulf Coast area of Mississippi. She was born in Japan but spent most of her youth moving around the Eastern side of the US. In 1992 she ended up in Jacksonville FL and attended Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. It was here she learned to hone her artistic abilities. She studied 2-D art and gained insights into photography, printmaking, art history, and textiles. By the time she turned twenty-one, she was a mainstay at a local nightclub where she began her career as an entertainer. She taught herself how to sew, and over the course of her career onstage, she designed and help construct gowns for National level entertainers and large scale stage productions. She traveled the East Coast and Southern states as Miss Florida USofA @Large, Miss Jacksonville, and Miss River City Pride. She began spearheading and organizing benefits for causes like Breast Cancer, Pediatric AIDS, Domestic Violence, and homelessness. By the time she was thirty years old, she started to feel like there was more she could do with her talents and began to break away from the night life. In December of 2008, Rhiannon received her first invitation to do professional, freelance art on a trading card release centered around the history of Marvel’s X-Men. Since then, she has worked for more than twenty different companies in four countries to produce licensed and original artwork for beloved entertainment properties like Marvel, DC, Star Wars and more. Most recently, Rhiannon was contacted by a company in Greece and invited to produce original artwork based on classic, iconic literature. She produced an image of the Brides of Dracula and will contribute 10 original sketches to be randomly inserted into product boxes and released worldwide.
