The American Advertising Federation MS Gulf Coast (AAF MS Gulf Coast) recently held their annual ADDY awards recognizing top advertising efforts for 2009. The awards show was themed ADDY Night Fever after the 1977 John Travolta classic “Saturday Night Fever”. The awards show included full 1970's décor and attire. The show also featured a “That 70's Show” inspired ADDY video and presentation produced by CAVU productions.
Denise Ladner with Mississippi Power served as ADDY chair and also currently serves as Executive Director of AAF MS Gulf Coast. Gretchen David of Gretchen David Design Studio and Jalee Smothers of WXXV Fox 25/MyXXV2 serve as AAF MS Gulf Coast co-presidents.
Fifteen gold ADDYs were awarded along with thirty-seven silver ADDYs. Fifteen student ADDYs were awarded – all from the University of Southern Mississippi.
The AAF Ms Gulf Coast announced special awards including copywriter of the year (Christie Fountain, Christie Fountain Advertising, Inc.); Creative Director of the Year (Michael Neiderer, Beau Rivage Resort & Casino); Laura Hasty Volunteer of the Year (Romy Simpson, Negrotto's Gallery) and the President's Award (Vicki Parkhill, City of Gulfport).
The Best of Show Award, Best of Print Award and Special Judge's Award went to the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino. The Best of Broadcast Award and Best of Interactive/Web Award went to IP Casino Resort Spa.
